Torwoodlee
A great mix of holes in beautiful surroundings.
Physical challenge: Gradual hills
The Course
Parkland course designed and laid out by Will Park, with two holes running along the banks of the River Gala. Peaceful and scenic setting. Golfers will find it testing but fair with tight fairways and small greens - a challenge to all levels of golfers.
Best holes
11th 419yds - the Monkey Puzzle Hole. A drawn tee shot is required on this dogleg left par 4, and drives should be middle right for a second to the green, which is guarded by the tree that gives this hole its name.
14th 552yds. This dogleg right is played off an elevated tee, but the second shot for position is most important. Out of bounds on the right and trees and bunkers on the left.
The clubhouse
A modern building with plenty of room in the public access areas. Ladies facilities include footbath, wash and had basins and toilets, gents also have showers. The lounge bar has one indoor room and an outdoor area.
Food and drink
Coffee and filled rolls in the morning./ 3 course meals available at lunchtime and evening. High teas available on Sundays (booking required). Snacks only on Tuesdays dues to the club manager's day off.
Getting there
From Galashiels take the A7 North. After approx. 2 miles look out for a sign for Golf Club and when you see a roadside parking area on the right, the entrance to the club is immediately on the left.
