Newcastleton
Keep the ball straight down the middle.
Physical challenge: Gradual hills
The Course
The course is set on the side and top of Holm Hill - however, it does not impose too great a strain on your legs. Trees are somewhat sparse, but visitors will find the small greens difficult to reach in par figures. The course offers scenic views over Newcastleton and Liddesdale Hills.
Best holes
3rd 386yds. The drive is uphill and only the long and accurate drivers will make the corner for an easy shot to the green.
9th 521yds par 5. Downhill, but trees at the dogleg left corner make it difficult to cut it off. The small green is tucked away below a bank on the left.
The clubhouse
Changing facilities are available and there are ladies and gents toilets plus a wash hand basin. The bar/lounge area is not normally open during the week, but can be opened by request.
Food and drink
In Newcastleton at the nearby hotels and cafes.
Getting there
Take the A698 from Berwick upon Tweed to Hawick. Turn left onto the B6399 to Newcastleton. A twisty road, you’ll pass Lyle and Scott on the right. Check in at J D Ewarts shop opposite the Bank of Scotland, hand in your ticket and proceed to Golf Club.
