Lauder
Lauder golf course is one of the few remaining truly unspoiled heath land courses in the country, with superb views and great greens. Our course is a must for golfers of every ability.
Physical challenge: Hilly
The Course
The course was initially laid out by Willie Park Jnr., who was Open Champion in 1887 and 1889. In 1905 he set the professional course record, which still stands, of 70. The course lies on a gently sloping hillside. The second fairway is steeper, but, from the top, there are beautiful views of Lauderdale. The signature holes are the Wood, a dogleg par 4, and the Quarry a blind par 3 of 150 yards. Over the last 4 years, the club has carried out a development programme of installation of water on the greens and extensive drainage system in order to extend the playing season. An agreement has been reached to remove the sheep permanently from the course.
Best holes
4th 351yds. This hole is a dogleg to the left and requires an accurate tee shot as there is a wood, which is out of bounds, and which might restrict your view of the green for your second shot.
The clubhouse
This is a pavilion constructed in 1911, consisting of ladies and gents locker rooms with changing, toilet and washing facilities.
Food and drink
Not available, but there are good eating places in Lauder.
Getting there
Take the A6105/A697 to Lauder. In the town centre turn left into Mill Wynd. Follow this road out of the town and you will see the golf course sign on the right.
