St Boswells
At most holes, all the trouble is on the left hand sides of greens and fairways. Aim as far right as possible, if you have a hook! Most of all enjoy the beautiful scenery which most members take for granted.
Physical challenge: Flat
The Course
A course not to be missed and one of the most picturesque in Scotland. Designed in 1899 by Willie Park Junior, using a strip of land next to the River Tweed. The ruins of Dryburgh Abbey can just be seen over the trees and further afield to Wallace Monument. Between shots it is possible to watch anglers landing their catch or the horses on the opposite bank drinking from the river.
Best holes
2nd 161yds. A non-flat hole with a large green to aim at, surrounded by bunkers and a drop into the 3rd fairway.
6th 321yds. An accurate 2nd shot is necessary for this par 4 as the green is surrounded on 3 sides by water.
The clubhouse
The newly extended clubhouse provides great lounge and changing room facilities overlooking the River Tweed towards the Eildon Hills. Ladies and gents changing facilities/showers. The bar and kitchen are open during the day by special request.
Food and drink
Meals by prior arrangement.
Getting there
Follow the A699 from Kelso to St. Boswells. At the far end of the main street (B6404), just before a sharp right hand bend, there is a narrow signposted entrance to the golf club on the left. From Kelso on the B6404 the turning to the golf course is immediately on the right as you enter the village.
